Course FAQs

What topics does the music theory course cover?

Our music theory course will teach you everything you need to know for the current ABRSM Grades 1-5 syllabuses. Let us know which exam you are aiming to take and we'll tailor the course to that goal. Topics covered include note values, time signatures, clefs, intervals, transposition and much more.

Will I always receive feedback from the same tutor?

Many of our tutors are also working musicians, which means that there may be the odd week where the tutor you have been assigned is unable to review your work and provide feedback. However, as we are fortunate enough to have a great team of tutors, your work will always be assessed by a qualified teacher, as scheduled.

Are your tutors available all year round?

Except for the final two weeks of each year (when all of our tutors enjoy a Christmas break) there will always be a tutor available to mark your work. If your assigned tutor takes any time off, another tutor will automatically be assigned to you for those weeks so that your learning is never interrupted.

Can I change tutors?

Of course, if you feel that you would benefit from a different tutor, send us a message at info@starlingmusicacademy.com or fill in the contact form below.

I'm having technical issues.

If you are experiencing any technical issues, contact us at info@starlingmusicacademy.com or fill in the contact form below and we'll do our best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Please give us as much information as possible about the issues you are experiencing in your message.

What happens if I don't complete my work on time?

Unfortunately we can't guarantee that work submitted late will be able to be reviewed by your tutor. You would still be able to submit the same work for the following week's deadline.

Do you offer courses on any other subjects?

Currently, we only offer our ABRSM Grades 1-5 music theory course, but we have big plans for the future and several other courses are in development. Watch this space!

Payment FAQs

How do payments work?

Once you have taken the Course Creator Quiz, we will put together your course within one week. Once we have done this, we will email you the link to the payment page which will ask you to provide payment details. Completing this will start your subscription and give you in instant access to your course.

You will then be on a monthly subscription plan until you complete the course or decide that you would no longer like access to your course. Payments are taken through Stripe and you will receive a reminder email a week before each subscription payment is taken.

I won't have time to complete my work next week, will I still be charged?

Our subscription service means that you always have access to your course and your tutor will check in on your progress once a week after the agreed hand-in day. If you know that you will be unable to leave the work set, you can always send your tutor a message asking them to set the next week's lesson despite having not completed the current lesson if you think that you will be able to catch up, but this will be left to the tutor's discretion as they may not have time to review two week's worth of work in one go.
